Lernziele

The course enables the students to understand and implement methods for response analysis of linear systems excited by uncertain forces, such as wind, earthquake, ocean wave. At the end of the semester, the students will be able to perform computer simulation of the response of linear dynamical systems, and apply theoretical tools to make predictions on system safety.

Beschreibung

The course is an introduction to the theory of linear random vibration for systems of engineering interest. It starts with a brief survey on probability theory, such as random variables and stochastic processes, and covers time and frequency domain analysis of single and multi-degree of freedom linear dynamic systems. The course consists of weekly lectures and tutorials. The topics to be covered include: 1. Fundamentals of probability and random variables 2. Analysis of stochastic processes 3. Time domain linear vibration analysis 4. Frequency domain analysis 5. Analysis of multi-degree of freedom systems 6. Failure analysis under random dynamic loads
