In interactive workshops on topics such as productivity in construction, digital twins, Building Information Modelling, smart construction, big-data-driven site management, and sustainable Infrastructure 4.0, new impulses were generated. In addition, we conducted excursions to selected construction sites, including modern tunnel and road construction projects that vividly reflected current technological developments and construction processes.
The program was complemented by visits to construction companies in the greater Shanghai area, providing valuable insights into best practices and innovative approaches in an international context. A particular highlight was the tour of the Shanghai Tower followed by a boat trip on the Huangpu River, which not only offered insights into modern high-rise construction technologies but also made the impressive urban dynamism of Shanghai truly tangible.
The visit with Prof. Bin Yang and other representatives of Tongji University enabled the establishment of a long-term international collaboration that will sustainably enrich our research and teaching in the field of construction and infrastructure.
