The International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE) is a two-year, full-time Erasmus Mundus Joint Master programme worth 120 ECTS credits. Jointly organized by 11 partner universities across Europe and beyond, it awards an internationally recognized joint master's degree to graduates.

The programme follows a unique mobility structure: students study at multiple universities over four semesters, drawing on the specific expertise of each institution. Core topics include fire protection engineering fundamentals, enclosure fire dynamics, risk analysis, and human behaviour in fire. The fourth semester is dedicated to the master's thesis, which can be carried out at one of the partner or associated partner institutes worldwide.

IMFSE is coordinated by Ghent University (Belgium) in collaboration with Lund University (Sweden), the University of Edinburgh (UK), and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain) as full partners, supported by associated partners including ETH Zurich, the University of Maryland, and the University of Queensland. The programme aims to train the next generation of fire safety engineers capable of addressing complex global challenges in the built environment and beyond.
