Sampling of rock probes: Using a chainsaw and core drilling

For our most recent project, we have pushed the limits of rock sampling in a tunnel: We used a chainsaw to collect large rock probes that could not be obtained using traditional techniques. Combined with core drilling, we collected a large number of rock samples for further laboratory testing. Our work is helping to determine the mechanical properties of the rock which is crucial for modelling the slope stability and to ensuring the safety of the site.
