Background:
Reservoir sedimentation is a well-known worldwide challenge that we are facing in the last couple of decades. Amongst numerous sediment management strategies applied to mitigate the reservoir sedimentation, Sediment Bypass Tunnels (SBTs) are an effective selection, especially for small to medium sized reservoirs. Their designs are generally case specific. Recent experimental, field, and numerical investigations have enhanced the existing knowledge on SBT design criteria and the chal-lenges associated with their designs, which are to be discussed to a broader audience.
Therefore, in continuation to the preceding successful workshops on sediment bypass tunnels (SBTs) organized in Switzerland, Japan, and Taiwan, we would like to invite you to the 4th International Workshop on SBTs to be held at the Technical University of Munich, Germany and to discuss your experience and knowledge on reservoir sedimenta-tion, sediment routing through SBTs, and the related morphological & ecological aspects. The main focus will be on the recent advancements in planning & design, invert abrasion, operation strategies, experi-mental & field studies, and numerical modeling related to reservoir sed-imentation and SBTs.
