Objectives

The student who has attended the course of lectures will have received an introduction to the building physical fields of heat, moisture, sound and lighting.

Description

Heat: Principles of thermal conductivity, thermal convection and thermal radiation Thermal values of building materials Thermal characteristic values Thermal bridges Non-stationary thermal conductivity within building elements, Mechanism of heat storage Thermal insulation materials and –systems by comparison Passive solar gains through opaque and transparent building elements, heat protection in summer Moisture: Relative humidity Water vapour content of the air, Water vapour partial pressure, Dew-point temperature Diffusion resistance, liquid line Moisture transport by diffusion, Capillary pressure and air flow. Sound: Perception and measurement of sound, Calculation by sound levels Sound absorption and sound reflectance, definition and calculation Single-leaf building elements, influence of the area-related mass, Resistance to deflection, trace adjustment Two- or multiple leaf structural elements, resonance, flanking transmission, resulting sound insulation Impact sound pressure level, impact sound transmission, Impact sound insulation Lighting: Sun and heaven, sun position, period of exposure to sunlight Lighting technology - fundamental terms Daylighting open-air and in buildings Daylight factor, distribution of the illumination intensity level in buildings.
