Objectives

The students who have attended this course of lectures will be able to put a comprehensive knowledge of the concept “comfort in buildings” into application.

Description

Heat physiology - Thermal comfort: complete comfort and local discomfort - Ventilation, air quality, necessary air flow volume - Hygric comfort and mould growth - Visual comfort: concepts of lighting, daylighting - Sick Building Syndrome For the criteria mentioned, reference is made to the occurrence of (dis)comfort phenomena in practice and the construction standards or technical equipment with which they are connected. Influence of buildings on comfort, thermal performance in summer Plant engineering: systems for air conditioning and impact on thermal comfort Measuring of indoor climate with exercises: evaluation of the indoor climate parameters measured

Teaching and learning methods

Lecture with an experimental exercise. Independent review of the lecture and analysis of the data obtained from the experiment. Preparation and giving a talk on the chosen and approved topic. - taking notes is required
