Computational methods for a changing environment
We develop advanced computational methods to understand, predict, and manage complex environmental and engineering systems. Combining numerical simulation, reduced-order modeling, and data-driven approaches, our research makes high-fidelity predictions faster and more reliable.
Our work spans atmospheric and ocean dynamics, multiphase and granular flows, and fluid–structure interactions. We focus on the computational challenges that arise when physical processes interact across scales—and on methods that make these simulations useful for engineering design, environmental prediction, and decision-making.
Founded in September 2026 at the TUM School of Engineering and Design, the Chair of Computational Methods in Civil and Environmental Engineering is headed by Prof. Dr. Annalisa Quaini.
