The focus of Prof. Konrad Nübel's (*1967) research work is construction process management, which includes the organization and coordination of the construction value chain and the implementation of process engineering, a discipline of management and organizational sciences with the associated technical issues.

Prof. Nübel studied civil engineering at the University of Karlsruhe (now KIT) and the University of Waterloo (Canada) and received his doctorate in geotechnical engineering from KIT in 2002. While working as a research assistant, he was invited to conduct research stays in Graz, Innsbruck, Prague, Gdansk, Tokyo, and Baton Rouge as part of his research on the numerical modeling of granular materials. He then took on various management positions—both in operational construction and planning—and accompanied projects worldwide with the companies Züblin, Bilfinger Berger, Smoltczyk & Partner, and BAUER Spezialtiefbau. In 2019, Prof. Nübel was appointed to the Chair of Construction Process Management at TUM. Prof. Nübel is a leading member of the TUM Leonhard Obermeyer Center, which focuses on digital methods in the built environment, a leading member of the TUM Cluster Sustainable Real Estate, Academic Director of Venture Labs Built Environment, and a member of the VDI's Construction Technology Advisory Board.
