Building Technology and Life Cycle Engineering

This specialization treats the different technical principals creating the basis of a building design oriented to all life phases. Material extraction, transport and conversion, their use in buildings, adaptation during the life cycle, demolition and recycling are subjected to analysis. Methods of life cycle assessment, ecologic construction materials and their environmental and health compatibility as well as legal conditions and principles of fire protection are examined. To understand complex connections, courses dealing with the assessment of building reliability, risk analyses, durability estimation and waste stream management are offered. Technical knowledge can be improved in modules for façade technology, building simulation and resource securing.
