Principles in Building Construction

The elective module 'Principles in Building Construction' is during every winter semester. The course 'Principles in Building Construction' aims to supplement the knowledge gained in 'Building Construction I-III' and to teach the abstract principles of building construction. The course content can be divided into the following:

  • Safety principle of building construction
  • Basics of joining -Extended criteria for the choice of building materials
  • Extended criteria for the choice of building components and construction types -Architectural principles of building construction
  • Interaction between people and buildings
  • Integration of technical building equipment in buildings and load bearing structures

Learning Outcomes

After participating in the elective module 'Principles in Building Construction', students will be able to detect the cause of damage as well as analyze and utilize methods for rectifying damage. The students are able to apply the main principles of constructions. In addition, students will be able to utilize criteria for the choice of building materials, components and types as well as depict the interaction between people and buildings.
