Lightweight Design and Structures
Motivation
Lightweight structures enable material‑efficient, sustainable, and architecturally expressive designs by harnessing the inherent strength of the interaction between geometry and structural behavior. At the Chair of Structural Analysis, we investigate how advanced numerical methods, formfinding strategies, and digital design tools can be integrated to develop innovative structural systems with minimal resource use. Our research spans the entire process—from conceptual geometry generation to nonlinear simulation and optimization—bridging engineering insight with architectural creativity to shape the next generation of efficient, resilient, and elegant built environments.
