Erforschung der mathematisch-methodischen Grundlagen zur Nutzung der Isogeometrischen Analyse in der Leichtbau-Planung

Project Support

The research project "Erforschung der mathematisch-methodischen Grundlagen zur Nutzung der Isogeometrischen Analyse in der Leichtbau-Planung" is supported by  the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy within Zentrales Innovationsprogramm Mittelstand (ZIM) ZF4066102BZ6

Motivation and Objectives

Isogeometric analysis enables direct integration of analysis in the CAD environment. New possibilities, including variation studies by parametric design, in the design process are evolving. The iterative process, which is especially typical for lightweight design, since shape and load bearing behavior highly are interacting, should be optimized.

Therefore, the project partner str.ucture develops pre- and postprocessing named Kiwi3d. The preprocessing enables an analysis-suitable modelling, since the parametrization of the geometry is significantly influencing the analysis. The postprocessing includes an interface for simulating staged construction.

The chair of structural analysis is working on the analysis kernel. Therefore robust methods are developed for direct processing of the given CAD geometry. Furthermore, intelligent refinement techniques, enhancements for the process of form finding of bending-active structures and boundary conditions should be implemented.

Kiwi3d

A plug-in for Rhino is developed. Analysis models can be created with Grasshopper by Kiwi3d. Kiwi3d permits parametric design studies with a mechanical foundation. A virtual mock-up is constructed.

More details on the actual version can be found at http://www.kiwi3d.com/.
