The MARGIN team convened its second Project Steering Group (PSG) meeting in Ljubljana, Slovenia, under the leadership of Project Lead Dr. Kai Zosseder. The meeting was conducted successfully, fostering engaging discussions and setting a clear direction for the project’s next phase. The team reviewed progress to date and confirmed that the project remains firmly on track, ensuring a smooth transition into Work Package 2. Project Manager Bosun Kang reported on financial and administrative matters, emphasizing transparency and cooperation to ensure effective alignment among all partners. Constructive dialogue among partners strengthened the collaborative spirit of the consortium and paved the way for effective implementation of upcoming activities across the pilot cities in the Alpine region.
Despite the rainy weather, participants engaged in a productive site visit near Ljubljana’s Town Hall. The visit included two key stops:
Local swimming pool facilities, where participants observed the city’s innovative water heating and cooling systems, including temperature management for efficient energy use. These systems demonstrate practical applications of sustainable water resource utility in urban settings.
Tivoli Park, where partners learned about groundwater quality management and modeling for limited water resources. Presentations covered spatial planning strategies to ensure all water is properly infiltrated and methods to separate different qualities of groundwater.
These site visits provided practical, real-world examples of how Ljubljana implements sustainable water management while optimizing energy use and planning for long-term efficiency.
