Stress sensitivity of porosity and permeability under varying hydrostatic stress conditions for different carbonate rock types of the geothermal Malm reservoir in Southern Germany

In geothermal reservoirs, the petrophysical, hydraulic and geomechanical rock parameters are significantly influenced by the prevailing stress and temperature conditions in the subsurface.

In the new article, the influence of varying effective stresses on the hydraulic rock properties of the Upper Jurassic (Malm) reservoir in the Bavarian Molasse Basin was investigated. During the laboratory tests, the behavior with respect to different rock and facies types of this heterogeneous carbonate reservoir was particularly emphasized. In this context, a clear dependence on the geomechanical properties and the degree of dolomitization was observed.
