Wind engineering
Motivation
As civil engineering pushes the boundaries of design with high-strength materials, modern structures (skyscrapers, long-span bridges, lightweight membranes etc.) are becoming increasingly slender and sensitive to wind. In an era of changing climates, understanding the extreme weather response of these structures is no longer optional but a critical safety requirement. The chair is motivated by the intensification of storms and shifting wind patterns with innovative structures. By leveraging Computational Wind Engineering (CWE), these structural responses are quantified, ensuring the structures remain both safe and economical under the pressure of strong winds.
