Objectives

At the end of the first semester, the students have a basic knowledge of welding technology. They understand how the welding processes are running and what welding equipment for different types of welding is applied. At the end of the second semester, the students gain in-depth understanding of the materials and their behaviour during welding. They are able to analyse the behaviour of materials after welding and to evaluate the welding seam. The students can select appropriate welding different materials for welding.

Prerequisites

Bachelor civil engineering. If there are not already absolved It is recommanded to attend simultaneous the compulsary subjects of the master studies steel construction

Teaching and learning methods

The module consists 100% to impart knowledge, which must then be put into practice, therefore the lecture and the internship are proper as teaching and learning method.

Examination

Due to the wealth of knowledge that is taught, the final exam consists of multiple-choice items. The first semester ends with an exam regarding welding procedures and the second with an exam regarding the behaviour of materials after welding. The final score of the module is the central grade of the exam grade in the first and second semester and taking part in a one-day internship of welding.
