Optimization of the composition of mixed-grain sealing materials

Background

Requirements for mineral sealing materials according to TA - Si and TA - A:

  • k < 5 x 10-5 m/s at i = 30
  • Percentage of fines (d < 0.002 mm) > 20 % weight.- %
  • Proportion of swellable clay minerals < 10 % weight.- %

-> only fine-grained sealing materials

-> Suitability tests for mixed-grain sealing materials

 

Goal

Standard formulations for mixed-grained sealing materials

  • Optimization of the sealing effect
  • Suffosion and erosion stability
  • Optimisation of the crack behaviour during drying and self-healing during remoistening

 

Procedure

  • Excavation of clay poems
  • Construction and support of test fields
  • Laboratory tests (main focus: permeability, drying out and remoistening tests)
